The 1607 departure of Hugh O'Neill 2nd Earl of Tyrone and Rory O'Donnell Earl of Tyrconnell with their families from Lough Swilly, ending the Gaelic Irish noble rule in Ulster and opening the path for the Plantation of Ulster. Brant Hindman's ancestor Hugh O'Neil was born 2 years earlier in Omagh (1605); the broader Sliocht Airt sept survived the Flight and remained on their Omagh lands as documented by the 1609 Maps of the Escheated Counties and the 1666 Hearth Money Roll.
