Born 1630 in Omagh, County Tyrone, Ireland. Father: Hugh O'Neil (25). Mother: Ann Smyth (15). Omagh and County Tyrone are the historic heartland of the O'Neill clan, the Gaelic Irish royal dynasty descended from Niall of the Nine Hostages (4th-5th century High King of Ireland). The O'Neills of Tyrone were Princes of Tír Eoghain and Earls of Tyrone, the dominant Ulster Gaelic family until the Flight of the Earls in 1607 (just 23 years before Bridgit's birth). Whether Bridgit's father Hugh O'Neil is a verified member of the noble O'Neill line of Tyrone or simply someone with the surname is not yet established in our extracted sources. Married John McElvaney 1650. At least 2 daughters including Jennet McElvaney (Brant's 7th-great-grandmother).
