Born 10 April 1862 in Ohio, eldest of seven Sprouse children of James Sprouse (1834-1904) and Julia Maria Ewing (1837-1923). Married William Wallace Hardin in 1883 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. They had four children including Bertha Rae Hardin (Brant's great-grandmother, who married Boyden Erwin Hindman in 1907). Lived in Alexis, Warren County, Illinois in 1900 and Evanston, Cook County, Illinois in 1910. Died 6 January 1924 in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington at age 61.
