John Baird

Born ~1648 (derived from his 1670 marriage age, conventional age at marriage). Married Jonnet Wilson 22 May 1670 in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland. At least two sons including Alexander Baird (1680, Brant's immigrant ancestor to Virginia). Verified by primary records 2026-06-05: Scotland Marriages 1561-1910 confirms 22 May 1670 marriage to Jonnet Wilson at Falkirk Stirlingshire (Scottish Old Parish Register). At least two sons documented by their own Scotland Births and Baptisms records (James, baptized 1682-ish; Alexander, baptized 1680). His own parents are not yet documented in surviving Scottish records. RESEARCH UPDATE 2026-06-06: The noble Baird pedigrees (Auchmedden, Newbyth, Saughton Hall, Stichill, Posso) trace through Aberdeenshire, East Lothian, Midlothian, and Edinburgh — NOT Falkirk. The Falkirk Bairds are most likely a separate tenant/farming family, NOT a cadet branch of any noble Baird line. There is no documentary chain. A Y-37+ DNA test on Brant via FamilyTreeDNA Baird Project would definitively resolve the noble-cadet question.
