Born about 1750 in Fairfax County, Virginia. Father recorded on FamilySearch as Joseph Combs (an unusual cross-surname, may indicate a stepfather, adoption, or naming irregularity). Mother recorded as 'Harding' (only the surname). Married Elizabeth Pressley in 1772 in Loudoun County. Five children (4 sons + 1 daughter). Lived Virginia 1768. Registered for Revolutionary War militia service in 1781. Died after 21 December 1805 in Leesburg, Loudoun County, VA. Buried Morris Crossroads, Limestone County, Alabama. RESEARCH NOTE 2026-06-05: the FamilySearch user-submitted claim of father Joseph Combs is UNCONFIRMED. The canonical Combs Families of Stafford VA research site (combs-families.org) explicitly states that Joseph Combs I (~1670-1756) of Stafford VA has NO documented wife; no Harding/Hardin in-law connection is established. The Combs-Hardin theory is therefore speculation pending stronger evidence. The DAR record A210122 for Joseph Hardin of Loudoun (~1751-1806) does not name his parents either.
