Born 22 September 1802 in Virginia to William Prior Gaines and Elizabeth Gaines. Married Eliza Bell Metier 19 February 1829 in Bath County, Kentucky. Eight children together (3 sons + 5 daughters), including Minerva Mildred Gaines (1839) who married Alvin Hardin. Lived Nicholas County KY in 1850. Died 7 January 1852 in Bath County KY, age 49.
