Twin to Benjamin Rice, both born 2 Feb 1745 in Westborough Mass. Did not move with the family to Nova Scotia in 1760; remained in Massachusetts. Served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in the 18th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment and as a Minuteman responding to the Lexington Alarm under Captain Robert Oliver. **DAR Patriot Ancestor #A095016.** Married Mary Green (m. 18 June 1772 Westborough) who bore him eight children including Alvan Rice (our direct ancestor) and Luther Rice (1785-1865), a blacksmith who moved to New York. After Mary's death c. 1786-1787, married Huldah Wilcox (m. 1 Feb 1789 Conway). Moved from Westborough to Conway, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Died Conway, Franklin County, Mass., 20 February 1826, age 81.
