Sailed from Plymouth Devon on the Mary and John, arrived Nantasket 30 May 1630 (NOT Mayflower; the Mary and John was part of Winthrop's Great Migration fleet, ten years AFTER the Pilgrims). Captain of Castle Island (Boston Harbor) for 21 years. Author of the 'Memoirs of Roger Clap' a primary source for Dorchester founding. Will dated 19 Nov 1690 bequeathed to wife and surviving sons Samuel, Preserved, Hopestill, Desire.
