Born 10 September 1762 in Ireland to Rev. John Hindman (42 at the time) and Hannah Knott (27). Emigrated to colonial Pennsylvania. Lived in Hopewell Township, Washington County, PA in 1783. Married Lettice Mc Clenahan on 7 April 1791 in Faggs Manor, Londonderry Township, Chester County, PA — a center of Scots-Irish Presbyterian settlement. Nine children, including Samuel (1797-1860, our direct ancestor). Migrated west to the Pittsburgh region; died 27 April 1816 in Elizabeth, Allegheny County, PA, age 53. Buried in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, Allegheny County, PA. Verified by primary records 2026-06-05: Pennsylvania Marriages 1709-1940 confirms 7 April 1791 marriage to Lettice Mc Clenahan at Faggs Manor, Londonderry Township, Chester County PA. Buried Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth, Allegheny County PA (Find a Grave). Confirms 27 April 1816 death date. The Faggs Manor marriage is the SAME Presbyterian congregation associated with the kinsman John Hindman Sr. the haberdasher (1675-1741), strongly supporting the proposed family connection.
