Four boys survived her: Henry (b.1884), Ernest (b.1890), Edward (b.1893), Herbert (b.1896). Her daughter Meta Hilda died in infancy in 1887. The interview notes mention a possible additional daughter who 'died as an infant; Herb thought she was born and buried in Germany, but Ella Marie said there was a girl's name on the family grave site at Grace Lawn cemetery in Elkhart.'
